Some Of My Favorites: Recliners

I started “some of my favorite things” last week. I thought it would be fun to share some of the many things that I research for myself or others.

The recliners/reclining chairs with an ottoman that I’m featuring are more (Mid-Century for the first and last ) modern and not your traditional Lazy Boy type recliner. We have a mix of modern and antiques. White slipcovers and a mix of art, both abstract and more traditional. Same with lighting and just about everything. I like a mix of styles together.

This week: RECLINERS!

Glenn Walnut Leather Recliner Chair

This is the Glenn Walnut Recliner Chair by Rejuvenation. It’s got that fabulous Mid-Centry Modern style and what I really like is that it doesn’t look like a recliner. The leather looks oh-so-soft – Italian leather, with three reclining positions. And guess what?? It’s MADE IN THE USA! 🇺🇸  The price may be a little unexpected if you haven’t researched recliners lately, but a gal can dream, right?

Ekornes Stressless Opal Recliner

This is the Ekornes Stressless Opal recliner by Stressless. This is just one of the many that they offer. I have one with a more traditional base (the Royal). These chairs are so comfortable. Ekornes promises to make “the world’s most comfortable furniture” – If you’ve never sat in one, I highly encourage it. These chairs are an investment, but they last… The leather is exquisite. I have one of the original chair types that they stopped building a few years ago, it was the first chair, and so highly popular. I wish they still made the same chair. This chair is heaven!

Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman

This is the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman… Oh, sigh! Two words… And this chair… it’s also MADE IN THE USA! 🇺🇸 🙌

I WANT! 😉

This Mid-Century modern lounge chair/ottoman is the luxury edition of comfortable chairs that are so stylish and have been for decades. Eames chairs have been around since 1956! Here is a description from the DWR.com (Design Within Reach):

Charles and Ray Eames had ideas about making a better world, one in which things were designed to bring greater pleasure to our lives. Their iconic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman (1956) began with a desire to create a chair with “the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman’s mitt.” The result embodies what it really means to lounge. In continuous production since its introduction, this set is widely considered one of the most significant designs of the 20th century. Combining soft, inviting leather with the sleek form of molded wood, the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman is the culmination of the Eameses’ efforts to create a club chair using the molded plywood technology they pioneered in the ’40s. Even today, each piece is assembled by hand to ensure the highest level of quality and craftsmanship, and you’ll be pleased to discover the set gets even better with use and age. This is the authentic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman by Herman Miller. Made in U.S.A.

These chairs are what dreams are made of! You have to know with quite a bit of high end furniture it’s considered “custom” and cannot be returned. So if you haven’t sat in it, you’ve got to be OK with that before you order it. It’s a good idea to drive to a nearby DWR (Charlotte, NC for us) and sit in one if there is one someone near where you live.

Catch you back here tomorrow!
